use a primer, everywhere!

Make sure you cleanse and really moisturize the skin before you start applying your makeup. Be sure to start using the moisturizer at least 2-3 weeks before the start of your wedding, to give your skin time to adjust (and to make sure you do not get a reaction or red skin.) Then, after you moisturize and before you put on your foundation (recommend a light powder that you can tap out any extra dust before lightly applying,) there’s a really important step — primer. Primer is extremely important, but precarious to apply correctly so that the camera does not pick up on the "cakey" texture of the primer. The best idea is to use a primer that is made to go exactly with the brand of your foundation. Best products - Sheer Minerals (can be found at Bed Bath & Beyond.)

Primer goes everywhere, even on your eyelids. Primer will actually make you eyeshadow stay in tact longer, so that you do not get those creases in the eyelids after a few hours. Also make sure to apply a light amount beneath the lower eyelids so that when you start to sweat off your makeup during the day, it will not gather beneath your eyes and make you appear tired. It will also help contain any sweat run-offs!

EXTRA TIP: Skip the traditional makeup and get spray-on foundation from your makeup artist for extra coverage!

waterproof mascara

Are you a crier? Even if you profess never to shed the waterworks, consider wearing waterproof mascara. The heat is killer for any makeup job, even if it is done professionally. Nerves make you hot, despite the summer or winter wedding schedule. And waterproof mascara will save you a lot of panic, wondering if your makeup is going to run all over your face. Save yourself some hassle, and make a small investment for it.

Are you wearing false lashes? Once they are properly apply, breeze over them with your eyeliner t make it look more natural, and a thin coat of the waterproof mascara to help cement the glue.

glamorous eyes

The illusive smokey eye-every girl wants it but can;t always get it exactly right. Even if you follow the pictures, showing you exactly where to shade from dark colors into light, it still isn't always perfect. That's because you have to pay more attention to the actual shape of your eye, your bone structure, and the colors that go best with your skin tone. Start with light, slightly reflective colors on the inside point of your eye. Gradually move this color towards the center of your iris and pull the shadow towards the outside of your eye as far as it will go. This will create a dramatic, sweeping effect that looks more natural than if you dabbed on the color. Then, grab your darkest shade and start at the outside corn and do a similar sweeping motion towards the inside of your eye. Use a thick, soft brush to blend in the middle and get a natural toned eye! Sweep a bit of the lighter glamorous shade towards the underside of the eyebrow for an extra lift!

camera makeup secrets

Always play up your makeup slightly more than you normally would for the camera. Apply shades deeper and darker (but avoid that "cakey" look please!) Thick bold lines work great for eye liner to really pop your eyes, and the blush (whether you normally wear this or not) will keep your skin glowing all day. Warm tones always look more inviting and natural than cooler tones. If you are doing your own makeup, practice the look your want before your wedding (at least a week before to avoid acne and breakouts). And while you're practicing, take a picture of yourself to see how the camera picks up on your features to determine whether you need more or less.

shhhh...its a secret!
