There is no amount of words in the English language that could describe the happiness that filled me to the brim, as I packed up my bags and left Gabe and Deniz’s winter wedding at the Detroit Yacht Club in Detroit Michigan. It was a day that, although frigid and snowy, was as warm and spectacular as a cinnamon roll on Christmas (yes, I did compare this wedding to my favorite holiday pastry because it was THAT good!) The day started off with a few lovely bridesmaids dressed in their best pj flannel (I was a bit jealous how comfy they all looked) and more laughter than I have ever heard coming from a single room!! We had such a blast helping Gabe put on her dress and finishing touches (hello glam) before loading into the elegant limo, goin’ to the chapel (anyone else singing the song with me??) It was at that moment that we met up with Deniz and his groomsmen, complete with their best “Zooland blue steel” looks for the camera. It’s at this moment when I usually start to sense nervousness in the room, as the click agonizingly ticks down to v-day (vow day). But Deniz was all smiles, even as he wrung his hands, saying goodbye to the best fellas in his life, and following the empty hallway to the church altar, ready for the first time, to meet his bride. And as the church doors swung open, the lights dimming to a soft golden hue, the music swelling in cadence….Gabe walked through the doors glistening in the globe lights, towards the man who vowed to love her for a year, for 10, for a 100!!!

But the best moment of the day was yet to come! So many times for me, it’s the first look, or the dance with the bride’s father….but this wedding held something so unique!! And it was the speeches made my their fathers, best man, and maid of honor. Each held wonderful stories, that truly showcased Gabe and Deniz, is ways that I could never describe. And everyone in the room laughed until we cried, toasted in both English and German, and had a freakin’ blast!!! I am so infintely grateful to have been the wedding photographer (and new friend) of Gabe and Deniz, and I cannot wait to see what 2018 brings them!!
