8 Ways to De-Stress Before Your Wedding!

traverse city wedding photographer, northern michigan wedding photography De-stressing and relaxing before your wedding is THE most important thing you can do. If you are like most brides, once you start getting down to the wire, you become frantic in your detail and plans that are suddenly coming up fast!

These vital steps below and so unbelievably important to know only being stress free as your big day approaches, but also ensures that you are enjoying the process and will be refreshed and excited for your wedding!

1. Carve out specific time for you and your fiancé, no wedding talk allowed!

Just as date night during marriage is important, so is taking time to enjoy each other’s company, outside of the wedding plans and activity. After all, planning a wedding is truly about celebration your marriage and coming together as a family. So take time to feel the excitement instead of the stress. Focus on the love and abundance, instead of the plans and centerpieces. These date nights before your wedding can be as simple as dinner out on the town, or even cuddling on the couch with a good movie. As long as you stay away from wedding talk, you will be good to go!

2. Spend some time with your gal pals!

Chances are, the last six months, you’ve been spending a lot of time with your friends, especially your bridesmaids. Inevitably, a lot of your time spent together has been around you and your wedding plans, but refresh yourself and your friendships by hanging out, doing something fun, and doing the simple girl talk, minus wedding! You will be pleasantly surprised how wonderful it feels to get back to your “normal” lives!

3. Exercise With Fresh Air!

There is nothing more vital than getting off your email, staying away from your phone, and getting outside! Whether it is going for a walk, working in the garden, or run the beach, the fresh air will help your skin detox, fill your lungs with natural oxidants, and refresh your body with pure oxygen. It is A-MAZING and will have you feeling light, happy, and joyous in the weeks before your wedding! Stay away from the enclosed gyms at all costs, because their stale air and concentrated oxygen levels will leave you feeling tired and dragging.

4. Bring flowers into your house for cleaner, purified air!

Bringing flowers or other plants into your home is great for keeping the dust down, keeping pollen to a minimum, and regenerating your air. Higher oxygen levels will give you more energy, keep your vitals up and going, and liven up your activity levels. There are some plants that are better than others, however. Make sure you do your research, depending on where you live and your climate levels, to decide which plants will work best for your home.

5. Go for a spa!

Spa’s are one of those timeless activities that will leave you feeling relaxed and wonderful! It is an hour out of your day where you can be alone with your thoughts, letting your body and mind let go of the pressures of planning, and let your body and skin detox. Detoxing is a great way to get a nice healthy glow for your mind and body!

6. Sit in the sun (with sunscreen) for at least 30 min per day!

Vitamin D is essential for your body and skin to get a healthy glow. Avoiding a sunburn is of course, essential so that you don’t look like a lobster for your wedding. But purchasing a sunscreen that allows the natural Vitamin D from the sun into your skin but blocking the harmful rays, is great for detoxing your skin and feeling refreshed and energetic. This usually occurs within the first 30 minutes of facing the sun, Any more than that, and you might be a prime candidate for sunburn.

7. Watch fun, happy movies and TV!

Keeping positive energy around you is very important for maintaining a balanced life before the wedding. Laughing, and keeping yourself in a joyous attitude, will help give you energy and allow you to more rapidly de-stress if issues do come up during this period. Staying away from movies, music, even people that bring you down, is one of the worst things to do, while you are preparing for your wedding.  Trade those problems in with funny movies, energetic music, and positive friends…and you will physically and mentally feel much better!

8. Eat lots of greens and raw foods!

We all know that eating vegetables is good for you, but increasing your green food intake a few weeks before your wedding, and maintaining this diet, is key to de-stressing. Greens have such a wonderful supply of antioxidants and vitamins that will give your ezra energy and keep you feeling light and airy. It will also allow your body to detox, and any remaining skin acne or problems to clear up before your big day!
