This is seriously one of my favorite super secret photographer tips to share with my brides because I am so passionate about promoting the joys of doing a First Look. About 90% of my couples choose a First Look and they are always so glad that they did!

Below are my top reasons for choosing a First Look for your wedding

1. 50% More Pictures of You and Your Groom

The First Look allows for about 20-30 minutes of private portrait time between just the two of you – and trust me, having time to yourselves is rare on a wedding day. This allows for a lot more fun, candid, and genuine portraits (these are usually the bride’s favorite image from her entire day.)

2. Takes Away Your Stress

Funnily enough, almost the entire wedding day up until this point, you and your groom have been separated. And if you were like me on my wedding day, I just wanted to see him so badly, because he has a special knack for calming me down (and I needed it!) I knew that as soon as I saw him, and held him, that everything else would melt away, and the day would be perfect…and it was!! It took away all stress and nerves so that by the time we got to our ceremony, we both were simply excited (but he still cried during our vows haha!)

3. Allows Time For Formal Images Before the Ceremony

This is one of my favorite points about being in favor of a First Look. If you do this, you can plan your timeline to fit in time for both family formal portraits and even bridal party portraits BEFORE the ceremony. This is amazing guys. Seriously. Because by the time you are done with your I Do’s the last thing you want to do is reign in your fun and stand in line in family members, fake smiling for an hour (sorry, I am just being real here.) Do yourselves a favor and get all these formals done before the ceremony so that afterwards, you guys can truly rejoice and enjoy the moment!
