Your wedding guest list is one of the most stressful parts of planning your wedding. And in my case, it was the WORST part of planning my wedding! So many people have so many opinions (whether you want them or not) and no matter how hard you try, you can’t please everyone (and why should you??!!)

Check out these 3 people you can safely cut, if you need to trim the list!

Your Boss

Your wedding is a personal affair. Not a work affair. Try to keep these two separate from each other, so that you planning doesn’t become convoluted. Just because you see these people every day does not mean you are obligated to invite the work friends, especially your boss. Unless you regularly hang out with them, outside of work, they are safe to cross off.

Plus One’s

Yes, you heard me. The ongoing question “should we give everyone a plus one” is never-ending. But if you are truly trying to cut down your list, cutting the “plus one” rule is a must and can easily reduce your numbers. Give yourself a rule to follow… “unless they’ve been dating for over a year, the couple does not qualify for a plus one.” Whatever rule you make, stick with it, to ensure a reduction in hurt feelings (this is inevitable as people seem to take offense to your wedding selections, so don’t take it too personally.)

Kids

Unless the kids are in your wedding, consider having an adult-only wedding. This is one of the best ways to reduce your guest list. Sure, some parents may grumble, but I guarantee that they will be thanking you when they have a fun date and don’t have to run around chasing their kids at your reception. It also makes your meal selection easier, as well as reduces the chance for damage at your wedding.
